The Closest Farthest Away is a story about people from Cuba and the US who are able to defy physical space to resolve their mutual struggles of immigration, love, and freedom. Amante, a marine biologist who was brought to Cuba through his study of migratory patterns of sea turtles, is interrogated for falling in love with a Cuban woman named Ana. The lovers are mysteriously connected through a coin from the ocean that leads them into a theater in the sea, the only place left where they are allowed to be together. They begin to understand that they are actors in an impossible play. |
