Project Troubador
Working to bridge cultural, racial and ethnic gaps while modernizing the ancient concept of the troubadour. By sending musicians, dancers and mimes to developing areas of the world, they provide another view of America and Americans through performance and interaction with our audiences. By bringing our experiences back to American audiences, we work to raise the public's awareness of distant cultures and to illuminate new ways of integrating the "world family."  Project Troubador is one of Project Por Amor's highest level sponsors.
 
Festival Internacional de Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano
The Festival promotes and awards those works whose significance and artistic values contribute to enrich and reaffirm the Latin American and Caribbean cultural identity.  The Havana Film Festival invited The Closest Farthest Away to have its World Premiere in Havana.
 
El Consejo Nacional de las Artes Escénicas
The National Council for Performing Arts is a national organization under the jurisdiction of Cuba's Ministry of Culture.  Working to develop a performing arts movement throughout Cuba, the CNAE supports performance groups, manages and programs theaters, organizes national and international tours, and hosts the annual International Theater Festival.  El Consejo Nacional de Artes Escénicas managed and promoted the World Premiere of The Closest Farthest Away at the Teatro Mella.
 
The LA Department of Cultural Affairs
Enhancing the quality of life for Los Angeles' 4 million residents and 25 million annual visitors by generating and supporting high quality arts and cultural experiences. A catalyst for the delivery of art, culture, and heritage to every neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles.  Awarded The Closest Farthest Away a CEI grant to return to Havana, collectively finish the work with Cuban collaborators, world premier at Havana Film Festival, and return to LA for local performances.

“A cultural forum to explore issues that define contemporary society by presenting live performances by innovative dance, music and theater artists from around the world.” The Miami Light Project is producing the world premier of The Closest Farthest Away in Havana and Miami.

“Facilitating intercultural exchanges, developing audiences with the ability to think critically and reflect, building bridges between innovative, moving works of art and diverse segments of our community.” FUNDarte is producing the world premier of The Closest Farthest Away in Havana and Miami.
 
Centro Cultural Español Miami
CCEMiami contributes through culture and science to social and human development in South Florida.  Their work includes projecting the diversity and plurality of Spanish culture in Miami, strengthening the dialogue with local actors and institutions, and promoting the exchange and circulation of cultural goods, ideas, projects, and proposals from different countries in relation.  CCEMiami is a co-presenter of the National Premiere of The Closest Farthest Away in Miami.
 
El Movimiento Nacional de Video
“Advancing the use of video throughout Cuba” A non-governmental organization created in 1985 to promote film and video production in Cuba. MNVC participates in over 50 international and national projects each year and organizes the VITRAL video Awards. They were the main organization responsible for organizing support from all other institutions in Cuba
 
California Institute of the Arts
“Pioneering Innovative and Experimental Work in the Arts.” CalArts provided many grants, rehearsal space, recording studios, equipment, mentorship, and a full two month performance workshop upon return from Havana.
 
 
Hexágono Carmesí
A Havana based film production company founded in 2005 by Yasef Ananda and Arturo Infante specializing in short films and documentaries. Recent awards include El Premio Coral in the International Latin American Film Festival in Havana in 2007, Best Cinematography and Best Short of 2006, and Best Audiovisual Project by young people from the Film Institute in Cuba. This co-producing entity handled all the production on the film shoot and recording sessions in Havana.
 
California Lawyers for the Arts
“Providing programs and services to help artists understand and apply legal concepts.” The California Lawyers for the Arts delivered extensive pro-bono legal service to ensure a lawful foundation for the production in Cuba.
 
El Instituto Cubano de Radio y Televisión
The Cuban National Radio and Television Institute issued the project all the extensive legal requirements necessary for Americans to work officially in Cuba such as filming licenses, travel visas, work visas, and approval from the Central Committee of the Communist Party.
 
Creative Visions Foundation
An incubator for creative activists, providing vital support — mentoring, skill building, networking, seed funding, grants, fiscal sponsorship and outreach materials — to raise social awareness and catalyze action of social, humanitarian and environmental issues. Creative Visions is a non-profit who acts as our 501c3 fiscal receiver.
 
Pastors for Peace
“An interreligious agency whose mission is to help forward the struggles of
oppressed peoples for justice and self determination.” The 2007 Pastors for Peace Caravan delivered a donated Mercedes Benz full of donated audivisual equipment to Havana.
 
American Composers' Forum
“Linking composers and Communities.” The ACF provided the project with a Súbito Composers Grant to fund the music requirements of the project.
 
Nexus Creative
Nexus Creative is a production house specializing in content creation, such as web, graphics, motion graphics, video and sound.
 
The Puffin Foundation
“Continuing the dialogue between art and the lives of ordinary people.” The Puffin Foundation awarded the project with a production grant.
 
El Centro Memorial de Martin Luther King, Jr.
“Founded in 1987 to empower the popular consciousness for social justice and international solidarity among Cuban people. Conducts workshops on leadership and communication and makes documentaries for ‘La Minga,’ a news program that broadcasts throughout the Spanish speaking world.” The CMMLK wrote an article about the project that was published in their sociological magazine "Caminos." La Colmenita
“The National Children’s Theater Company of Cuba whose goal is to build self-esteem and social responsibility amoung young people through participation in the performing arts.” La Colmenita provided the project with young talent to star in roles such as El Niño Elegguá, El Niño Alejandro, La Niña Ana, Tiago, and Flavia.
 
Project Ahimsa
Project Ahimsa is a global effort to empower youth through music. The organization was founded in 2001 in response to the violent attacks on Sikhs and South Asians after 9/11. The organization operates under the auspices of the Patel Foundation for Global Understanding. They awarded The Closest Farthest Away with a grant to include La Colmenita in the production.
 
Center for Cultural Innovation
"Promotes networking and financial independence for individual artists and creative entrepreneurs." Awarded the project a low-interest artist loan to cover all remaining unmet production expenses.
 
Arbeter Ring
"Promotes networking and financial independence for individual artists and creative entrepreneurs." Awarded the project a low-interest artist loan to cover all remaining unmet production expenses.
 
 
Dalio Family Foundation
Awarded The Closest Farthest Away a post-production grant upon return from Havana.
 
 

Teatro El Público
A respectful approach to tradition, a permanent link with avant-garde theatre, a commitment to research and teaching, and the deliberate purpose of creating a public is the foundation of the work of this company.  El Público has presented a diverse repertoire from the whole of world drama embracing plays by authors such as Cervantes, Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, Molière, Chejov, Ibsen, Miller, Williams, Brecht, Albee, as well as the best of Cuban classics—Avellaneda, Luaces, Milanés—and most of the Cuban playwrights of the second half of the 20th century, including Piñera, Estorino, Brene, and Quintero.  Teatro El Público was the host theatre company for The Closest Farthest Away during its world premiere in Havana.
