$10,000 or More: La Caridad de Cobre (The Patron Saint of Cuba)
"Our Lady of Charity" is a symbol of Cuban nationality as the mother and
protector of all Cubans. Also known as Cachita or Ochún, she reigns over love, intimacy, beauty, wealth and diplomacy. Her blessing to humanity is charity, the fusion of love and wealth. It is recommended that donation amounts be a multiple of 5, Ochún’s number. |

$7,000 - $9,996: Yemayá
Yemayá is the orisha of the ocean, the space that divides the US and Cuba. In The Closest Farthest Away, she creates a Theater of the Sea, a place beyond all territorial boundaries where our Cuban and American characters can collaborate. It is said that those who come to Yemayá surrender their worries and their troubles dissolve in the waters. The act of surrendering is one of opening and trust. She is the mother of all people, the goddess of home and family. We recommend that donation amounts be a multiple of 7. |

$900 - $1,499: 90 Miles
90 miles is the distance between the US and Cuba. The area is known as the
Florida Strait which links the Atlantic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico and is
traversed the by the Gulf Stream which creates tumultuous waters between
Havana and the Florida Keys. This distance has been crossed by ferries, rafts,
homemade boats, speed boats, war boats, slave ships, cruise ships, cargo ships,
swimming, and airplanes. It is these 90 miles, or as calculated by our
protagonist Ana as being only 86, which make Cuba and the US the "closest
farthest away." |

$100 - $299: Magic Coin
The magic coin is a currency of unknown origin that Ana finds in a tree in
Havana and throws to Yemayá to make a wish. The rain brings this coin to "Amante" in the US and when he finds it he appears in Cuba. Whenever he
spends it Ana appears. In Cuba there are multiple currencies. From 1993
to 2004 the US dollar, although illegal to spend in Cuba, was Cuba's main
currency. Prior the Cuban Revolution tourists used to throw coins off the
Malecón into the sea to make a wish. Lower-class Cuban children risked
their lives by diving into the water to collect the coins to sustain their
families. |

Under $100: Bus Fare to Cuba
Bus fare will take you to Havana in a bus driven by Pepe, a thermo-nuclear
scientist who now drives a bus because the nuclear labs in Cuba were shut
down after the fall of the Soviet Union. Like many over qualified workers in
the Cuban economy, Pepe's understanding of the movement of atoms has lead
him to figure out how to use his bus to drive back and forth from Cuba to the
US to help people fulfill their dreams. |
